Pre-Kindergarten
About our Pre-Kindergarten Programs
Pre-Kindergarten:
Enrollment in the pre-k program is restricted to students residing within Keller ISD boundaries, with the exception of children of Keller ISD employees. Please be aware that all pre-k student placements will be at their home campus unless a student qualifies for bilingual or special education services. The only other exception might be if the designated home campus is full at the time of enrollment.
Students who qualify for Pre-K receive instruction that follows TEA Prekindergarten Curriculum Guidelines and are taught by certified educators, and supported by specialized services such as special education and dual language, pre-k prepares children for kindergarten and beyond, with research showing that students who attend pre-k are more likely to graduate from high school.
Young children learn through play, music, movement, and hands-on activities. High priorities are learning about the alphabet, expanding vocabulary, developing awareness of language sounds (phonological awareness) and the building of social/emotional skills.
The pre-kindergarten curriculum is based on the Texas Education Agency's Pre-Kindergarten guidelines. Areas included are:

Bilingual Spanish & Vietnamese Pre-K:
Students who qualify for Pre-K whose home language is Spanish or Vietnamese may qualify to participate in a bilingual classroom where instruction is offered in both the home language and in English. Spanish bilingual classes are offered at at select elementary campuses throughout Keller ISD. A Vietnamese bilingual class is offered at Parkview Elementary.
